The 45th Annual National Championship Air Races and Air Show has be held from 10 - 14 Sept 2008 at Reno Stead Field.
Race aircraft in the Unlimited Class reach speeds of over 500 mph - by far the fastest-moving machines in motorsports! The event also included world-class air show featuring the USAF "Thunderbirds", top aerobatic performers, military and civil flight demonstrations, and a large display of static aircraft.

Bill "Tiger" Destefani in the North American P-51D Mustand "Strega" won the final Unlimited Gold race ahead Dan Martin in an other P-51 "Dago Red in an avrerage speed of 483 Mph. It was "Tiger's" seventh victory in the Unlimiteds.
In the T-6 calsse the victory went to Ken Dwelle in "Tinkertoy" in a new T-6 race record of 244,5 Mph.

Next year races are planned from 16th till 20th September 2009. Mark your agenga now !!!

The Reno National Championship Air Races, the only place in the World where you can see five days of REAL AIR RACING by six classes of aircraft up close and personal. The air races have been run since 1964 near Reno, Nevada, USA, and are currently held at Reno Stead Field, about eight miles North of Reno.

The National Championship Air Races and Air Show has been held just outside Reno, Nevada, every year since 1964.

Mike Brown and Race 232 "September Fury" took the Unlimited Class Gold Race with a winning speed of 481.619 mph . Matt Jackson flew "Dreadnought" to a second place finish with a speed of 453.559 mph. Interestingly, the only two inline-engined aircraft, Mustangs "Cloud Dancer" and "Strega" landed with maydays and did not finish the race.

In the Sport Class race, first-place finisher Rod Von Grote in Race 33 cut a pylon to give Jon Sharp in "Nemesis" the win with an official speed of 360.389 mph.

In the T-6 Class Nick Macy flew Race 6 "Six Cat" to a Gold Race win at 235.609 mph.

The Formula One Class and Biplane Class race victories went respectively to Race 95 "Mariah" was flown by Gary Hubler and Tom Aberle who drove Race 62 "Phantom" to a decisive victory over all competitors in the Biplane Class with an official Gold Race speed of 251.958.
John Penney won the Jet Class Gold Race with an official speed of 470.195 mph.

The 44th Annual National Championship Air Races and Air Show will be held 12 - 16 Sept 2007 at Reno Stead Field.
